From May 7th to 10th, Testing The Echo can be seen at the Rep Theatre. Written with charm and a sense of wonder, David Edgar's play is a fascinating tapestry about the twisting road to becoming British. Secretly, Tetyana wants to escape her marriage. Mahmood gets kidnapped for his own good. Chong is fine on football but fails on Guy Fawkes. And the motley crew in Emma's English class are all looking for something, whether it's a passport or a fight. The Old Rep Theatre Highlights
 
The Old Rep, Birmingham
Starting in February, the Old Rep Theatre will undergo a programme of renovations so that wheelchair users can benefit from lift access while preserving and enhancing the character of the building. As well as the provision of lift access for wheelchair users, there will also be improved box office and refreshment facilities and improved toilet facilities. Sadly this means that the Theatre will temporarily close to the public for 8 months re-opening in September 2008:

Midlands Arts Centre Highlights
 
The MAC, Birmingham
 
mac closed to the public on April 6th 2007 so that work on the mac and sampad's £13.5million building project could begin. A small team remain behind to work towards the re-opening in autumn 2009, when we look forward to welcoming you back to a refurbished building with better facilities, more exhibition spaces, an extra rehearsal and performance space, an improved main house theatre and improved access for everyone. Jointly funded by Arts Council England, Birmingham City Council and a mac and sampad fundraising campaign, the development will dramatically improve and update the arts centre, creating a more effective and efficient arts centre. Through this website, you will be able to keep up to date with all of the developments regarding the building project as they happen, and as we move towards 2009, here is where you will find details of our 'curtain raising ' events in and around Cannon Hill Park in summer 2009, and our dynamic launch season of events, exhibitions and courses in autumn 2009.
