THE
CALCULATING MR ONE (Alexandra
Theatre) |
|
| Thursday
5th February 2008 - 10am & 1pm |
| The
Calculating Mr. One is a whodunit with a difference....
1898, London. Someone is trying to steal Professor
Ebenezer Brain Teaser's latest invention,
an incredible calculating machine. Will Jeremiah
Bloodhound, probably Britain's worst Private
Detective, add two and two together? Why are
'Circus Numero' the 'prime' suspects? And
why are they 'counting' on Kitty Beagle to
'calculate' who is Mr One? By using number
patterns, mental calculations and deduction,
help 'Bloodhound and Beagle' unravel this
mathematical mystery. And see how Kitty struggles
to overcome Victorian preconceptions about
what a woman should be doing with her life!
The Calculating Mr. One is a musical comedy
that explores the importance of mathematics
and problem solving in everyday life and is
based on the National Curriculum for Maths
and the Numeracy Targets. It will be available
at the Key Stage 2 level except where indicated.
It's also interactive with the audience required
to solve mathematical problems in order for
play to progress.

THE
BOY WHO CRIED WOLF (in
the Centenary Suite) |
|
| Saturday
6th June 2009 - 11.30am & 1.30pm |
| A
shepherd boy, who watched a flock of sheep
near a village, wanted some amusement during
the long days he spent on the hillside guarding
his sheep. So he decided to play a joke on
his neighbours… So Aesop’s fable
goes. The consequences are disastrous. ‘There
is no believing a liar, even when he speaks
the truth’ runs the moral of the story.
But why did no-one take the time to stop and
ask why the shepherd boy cried ‘Wolf’?
Exploring this well-known story, young audiences
will be invited to step into the drama of
the shepherd boy’s world. (back

THE
CHUCKLE BROTHERS IN A CHRISTMAS CHUCKLE
(Alexandra
Theatre)

| Wednesday
2nd December 2009 - 7pm |
| An
adaptation of Charles Doughnut's "A Christmas
Chuckle," Paul & Barry (The Chuckle
Brothers) go on a fantasy adventure meeting
characters and ghosts from a different time!
The year is eighteen hundred and frozen to
hecky thump! Or is it. The miserable miser
Ebenezer Sneezer isn't looking forward to
Christmas. He never does!! In fact the only
thing he does like at this time of year is
humbugs! You can often hear him shouting 'Humbugs'
as he goes on the search for them. However,
what he doesn't know is that he's about to
get a visit from some ghosts as they try to
show him the error of his ways, and teach
him that Christmas is a very special time.
They arrive just before Christmas Eve to hear
him shouting at the butcher, "Turkey's
aren't just for Christmas!" And then
to the corner toy shop, "Put your prices
up!" He's never had a charitable thought
in his life. But he's about to go on a journey
of redemption.
